HUD's Section 202 program currently provides over 300,000 units of safe, supportive housing for very low-income seniors.  Lengthy waiting lists for these units exist in many communities, and we simply are not meeting the need for affordable housing.  As a result of its recent survey, AARP reports that ten seniors wait for every unit of senior housing that becomes available.
