How to VOTE for RAZOO SPEED GRANTS on FACEBOOK

Father Angelos of COSCCET and I have created a Razoo Speed Grant Proposal on Facebook. Please help us by voting for our cause and then referring our site to all your friends! We will WIN $1000 if we get the most votes. Here is how to do it:

If you would like to support the FORGOTTEN VICTIMS OF MITWABA, please go to www.facebook.com and open a free account. You will find our proposal under "Applications" on the left hand side by finding "RAZOO SPEED GRANTING." Once you have added the application to your profile, you need to browse the proposals to find the proposal titled "Remember the Forgotten Victims: Widows and Children of Mitwaba, Democratic Republic of Congo." You may find it easier to add me as a friend as I have the site posted on my Profile Page.

OR:

You can try this URL: http://apps.facebook.com/speedgranting/proposal.php?pid=557

First, you MUST have a FACEBBOOK account.

If the URL does not work after you open your facebook profile, follow the actions below.

PLEASE INVITE all your FRIENDS to VOTE!

We really want to help this village. :)

Here is what you need to do if the URL is defunct (so you don't browse tons of proposal pages...):

1) If you have a facebook account, log-in. If you do not have a facebook account, create one.

2) Once you have done that, you need to "search" for my name "brenda thonsgaard flores" and send me a "Friends Request".

3) I have everything posted on my Profile Page and it makes it SO MUCH EASIER to find everything!

4) Once I have accepted your friendship, look on My Profile Page and find "Razoo Speed Granting".

- Open up the arrowed window & click on the title "Remember the Forgotten Victims: Widows and Children of Mitwaba DRCongo"

5) I have everything posted on my Profile Page and it makes it SO MUCH EASIER to find everything!

6) Once I have accepted your friendship, look on My Profile Page and find "Razoo Speed Granting".

- Open up the arrowed window & click on the title "Remember the Forgotten Victims: Widows and Children of Mitwaba DRCongo"

7) When it opens up, feel free to watch the AlJazeera video and read the proposal I wrote.

8) You VOTE in the top RIGHT SIDE. Click "Vote yes" (it is called something like that).

Your vote only means that you think this is important. After you have voted, MESSAGE everyone in your email address book and BEG them to vote for our cause.

If we receive the most votes, Razoo will GIVE US $1000!

Thank you for caring about these poor forgotten souls!

Season's Blessings and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let's make a GREATER DIFFERENCE for these victims in 2008!

Be Blessed,

~Brenda Thonsgaard-Flores

Community Support - Many Thanks

Epiphany Lutheran Church junior high students held a "lock-in" October 12-13. Students enjoyed Christian fellowship, games, and Bible studies. All entry fees have been applied to Kisumu Project, Inc.'s "Adopt a School" program. Over $400 was collected for the building of a water well and restrooms for Esibila Primary School.

Many thanks should be given to the parents who planned the Lock-in and supported the donating of entry fees to the "Adopt a School Program." To date, Epiphany Lutheran Church and School has collected almost $3000 to help renovate Esibila!

Thank you so much, Epiphany Lutheran Church and Day School!

Learn Swahili

Trying to learning Swahili?

When I was doing a bit of research, I discovered an awesome website I would like to share with those who are working on Kisumu Projects.

http://www.glcom.com/hassan/lessons/useful_swahili_words.html

If you would like to learn (or teach someone) Swahili, this site will provide you with the basics!

Chachawa! (Enjoy!)
(I hope that is a good translation. I'm 'winging it' here!)

Kisumu Project, Inc. Volunteers

As a volunteer of Kisumu Project, Inc. I believe that in order for change to be made in the world, education must be at the forefront. That is the ultimate goal in our "Adopt a School," "Build a Water Well," "Build a School for Orphans," and "Communications" Projects. We not only hope to provide/collect donations that will make an impact on the lives of the people of Eastern Africa, but we hope to carry the message that there is a beauty to share, and there are needs that should be met.

As an individual, I have been an educator in the United States for 18 years, and I am sad to admit that World Issues were not presented as an area of importance in our curriculums. Despite my work as a teacher and environmental education in Central America, it took my friend, Kenneth, to demonstrate how I could impact the life of someone on the other side of the world! It is very sad to admit, but it is exciting to be enlightened by the prospects.

Fortunately, as a Kisumu Project, Inc. volunteer I am able to contribute to causes that are AS IMPORTANT AS my work as an educator. It is my hope that through my work with Kisumu Project, Inc., Kenneth (our Director), and all of our other volunteers, I will be able to help make an impact that will reach far into the lives of those who are not born with the same opportunities I was. As I tell my own children, we did not choose our birth parents, nor did we choose where we were born. Someone else did that for us. We have to move forward from the point where we are standing.

Whether we are idle or "busy bees," each and every one of us WILL make an IMPACT on the world. From pollution, water and electricity usage, food consumption, or anything else, we cannot deny that we have an impact (and it is not as small as we hope). By just visiting a waste water treatment plant you will clearly understand the real impact of human beings!

I want my "mark" or "impact" to be one that centers around the helping of others. That is why I have chosen to assist Kisumu Project, Inc. volunteers in their endeavors in Kenya.
