He brushes him and hugs him. He is learning to lead him into the arena. Linus stops. He does not respond to Joey. Then Linus decides to walk. He pulls Joey to the right, when Joey wants to go left. Joey cries out in his experience of powerlessness. He says, “Everyone pushes me around!” and talks about the bullies at school, and his parents at home. I ask if he would like to learn to lead a different horse, one that is less “pushy”. He is of our therapy horses and has been training, since he needed a little something more in his life at Great Strides.
