Give the gift of inspiration...

This holiday season, you can inspire friends and family in a glamorous way!

New York based GlamourGals, Inc. has introduced a limited edition black lace
bracelet that appeals to the modern woman who wants to make a philanthropic
statement while still feeling stylish and glamorous. GlamourGals, a 501
(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to creating compassionate teen leaders by
bridging the generational gap between teens and their elders. The
organization schedules regular visits to nursing homes and senior centers to
give complimentary facials and makeovers. Currently, there are 50 chapters
in eight states nationwide championing this innovative movement to build
teen leadership while alleviating elder loneliness.

The bracelet launch coincides with the season's spirit to show compassion
and joy through giving. The classic black lace is embedded in a translucent
plastic bangle. The design is meant to connect old time glamour with the
modern trends of today. Each bracelet retails at $20 + S/H and is
individually packaged in a high gloss white box with hot pink tissue paper
and includes a "You Inspire Me" blank card to gift to a friend.

In the spirit of GlamourGals, all proceeds go towards the GlamourGals
mission to end elder loneliness.

A Great Idea

Hi, well I have a Great Idea that can help the elderly, maybe not as personal as Glamour Gals, but it will work and if done right it could pay for itself

lets say that as an alternative to the elderly living in retirement homes year round, often far away from loved ones, we offer them a month long vacation package! in the city of their choice where a favorite realitive might be residing?

it works like this, in most cities the hotel industry has a season, and on their off seasons groups rates can be had very easily, so lets say we rent a whole floor in some city, staff a few rooms with a doctor and nurses, and offer to the retirement homes these packages where the elderly resident can visit their loved ones for a month! it could easily pay for itself considering the usual prices that the homes get, I'll bet the discounts could even cover airfare! cool huh?

:)

GlamourGals Summer of 2007

Hi everyone,

I am the intern for GlamourGals this summer and hope to continue working for GlamourGals until I graduate from college in 2010. I had such a great time this summer as so many exciting things happened!

My first experience was at the May 2007 Glamour in the City event - I was more than impressed by what I saw. It was held in the beautiful ballroom at the Loews Regency Hotel in NYC. The evening featured host Tracy Smith, news correspondent for Katie Couric of the CBS “Evening News,” and appearances by Andrew Tisch, co-chairman of the Loew's Corporation, and his wife Ann Tisch. Susan Schulz, Editor-in-Chief of CosmoGIRL! magazine and chairwoman of the GlamourGals Advisory Board, attended as well. Inspiration Glammy! winner Nikki Blonsky, star of the hit movie Hairspray, gave our keynote speech. Maybelline New York sponsored the event and offered mini-makeovers with their celebrity makeup artist Melissa Silver, and Sweet Street Desserts featured a 12-foot dessert table. 300 people were in attendance and massive goody bags and prizes ranging from a 2 night stay at the Loews to designer shoes and handbags were given to the guests. GlamourGals was also able to raise our goal of $50,000! The event and volunteers were featured on the CBS “Saturday Early Show,” Cosmogirl.com, Future Leaders in Philanthropy, and many other news sources! I had no idea just how prolific GlamourGals was and could not wait to get started for the summer!

Later on during the summer, Rachel was featured on the headline news for CNN and on their online program "Young People Who Rock," was awarded the "Women of Spirit" award at Morton's Steakhouse, the world's largest owner and operator of company-owned upscale steakhouse restaurants, and appeared on The Prayer Channel as a guest in mid-June.

Rachel and I also traveled to Washington DC in July for HOBY’s annual World Leadership Congress (WLC), an event which brings together more than 400 young men and women from around the world for a week-long, intensive educational program. We participated in two MegaMakeovers at the Old Soldier's Home and St. Mary's Court with about 50 students during the Community Service Day. It was a huge success, as both the students and elderly people expressed their appreciation for such an activity.

Although the summer is coming to an end, GlamourGals has plenty of exciting things coming up for the fall. There will be a new interactive online community for all of the volunteers to peruse, a community where they can post pictures of makeovers, talk about their volunteering and philanthropic activities, and make new friends. We will also be launching our exclusive new black lace bracelet, after completely selling out the pink lace bracelets after their initial debut.
