Pakistan with its Muslim majority and India with its Hindu majority have been fighting over the Jammu and Kashmir region since 1947. Since this time there have been numerous deaths and battles for authority of this beautiful piece of land the Jammu and Kashmir region. It began when Britain proclaimed the Indian Subcontinent nation independent and created India and Pakistan. They separated the two states with religion and geographical position. Muslim states joined Pakistan and Hindu nations joined India. During this separation was a slight confusion that caused this catastrophe between the two states. The problem was who owned the Jammu and Kashmir region. An agreement formed between the two states proclaimed that any nation having the majority of Muslims more than 70% would join Pakistan and nations with a majority of Hindu would join India. As it stands, the Jammu and Kashmir region is 90% so it is assumed that the Jammu and Kashmir region should belong to Pakistan, but not in this case. India, who outnumbers the people in Pakistan, still holds claim to the Jammu and Kashmir region due to the power in numbers that they have over Pakistan. India not abiding by the terms of the agreement between the two states claims that the Jammu and Kashmir region was joined to India by the former Hindu leader resulting in the region belonging to India. Pakistan claim to never agree to these terms and the land was stolen from them. One would agree that Pakistan holds a more ethical position than India due to the agreement that the two countries had resulting in the Jammu in Kashmir region belonging to Pakistan.
