Northern Ugandan Conflict

While in college I traveled to Uganda for a conference on globalization. I made many friends and ended up dating a man who had spent some time in the LRA. He had been captured and was only able to escape after being shot and left behind during a raid.

I may have seen some of you at displace me. All wars affect us even if we do not know those who suffer.

still living in the Northern part of Uganda but of today its still secure no much of shooting as it was .But this is because of the ongoing peacetalks in Southern Sudan.
What is good is people are ressetling back to thier mother land and the few who have gone have really produced lots of food grown in the villages as the land was restored and fertility is at its best I believe.

After you're experiences, have there been any action steps/recommendations about aid in N. Uganda that would be helpful to share with everyone on the site with an interest?

I've worked a little with people in Northern Uganda, visiting IDP camps and villiages that are resettling. The impact of 20 years of war is huge and peoples lives and families have been massively impacted. It is so important to remember that these are people like you and I living through hell on earth- they shouldn't be forgotton.
