Situation: Evangelical Christians seek to address this sad situation by going to all the world's countries and preaching what is known as the "gospel". The gospel is the proclamation
that Jesus Christ was crucified and raised
in order to cleanse His people of their sins
and save them from hell
giving them eternal life in heaven.
Evangelicals believe that anyone who turns from their sin and believes the gospel will be saved. Thus, evangelicals leave the safety and comfort of their homes to go to far-off lands to tell people the gospel in hopes that they will believe in Jesus Christ and be saved.
Statistics: The spiritual situation of the world is staggering when one considers it from the evangelical worldview. If everyone who does not believe in Jesus Christ is fated for an eternity in hell, then that means that the great mass of humans who live will indeed perish in hell. 3.6 billion people have no idea who Jesus is. Many more who do know who Jesus is do not believe in Him. The task of telling the world about Christ and calling it to faith is a daunting one, and few exist to carry it out. Hundreds of evangelical missionaries are needed to take the gospel to the 6400 people groups who have not heard of Christ, many of which speak indigenous languages which take years to learn.
YOU SHOULD CARE because souls are at stake. Evangelical Christians need to stop pursuing earthly things and to leave all and travel far away to tell people who have no hope about the One who is hope Himself. Join the cause--and spread the gospel to the nations.
