KAMILIKA works directly with circumcisers and young girls in Tanzania to stop FGM, female genital mutilation. It provides health education and job training to circumcisers who stop cutting. And, it supports safehouses for girls fleeing circumcision and early marriage. KAMILIKA encourages alternative safe rite of passage and encourages girls to complete their education. In Kiswahili "Kamilika" means "to be whole, perfect, intact." It is the goal of KAMILIKA to empower women and girls to stop the violence caused by FGM.
