To empower youth affected by the conflict in northern Uganda by equipping them with the core competencies and life-skills necessary to reconstruct their lives and their society....
uNight: For the Children of Uganda has developed two main initiatives: 1) uNight’s US-office runs an advocacy and mobilization campaign to build an effective international constituency abroad to end the suffering in northern Uganda. 2) uNight’s Ugandan staff and volunteers shall operate local-grassroots training and remedial education programs on the ground, with a focus on leadership and entrepreneurship. Finally, to reduce the isolation and dependency felt by northern Ugandan youth, uNight seeks to connect them (virtually and physically) with uNight’s global-grassroots support network. To do this, uNight utilizes technology to promote grassroots exchange between uNight’s student-led chapters and business professionals and the youth centers. In addition, a key component to all uNight’s programs is the use of young adult mentors, to act as role-models and provide career-guidance, to give direction to their mentees.
