As the oldest son of the Krups Family (coffee- and espresso-makers), I entered the family company following my education at MIT and the Stanford business school. After 6 years I became the technical director, leading 2,000 people at locations worldwide.

After the sale of Krups, I founded a logistics consulting company, participated in the turnaround of an international consumer goods firm, and built a company supplying innovative logistics technology. When this company failed at the end of 2000, I entered a period of soul-searching immersing myself in a broad range of world philosophies, working with chi-energy, confronting my inner shadows and re-discovering both my emotionality and my soul.

I now use my broad personal and managerial experience to coach and support leaders in their efforts to navigate their companies, their forums and/or their personal lives to a higher, more authentic level. At the same time, I have begun to realize my childhood dream of "Helping the Poorest Help Themselves". Using my skills, experience and contacts as a businessman, I empower disadvantaged individuals and communities in the developing world to take the future into their own hands, while mobilizing others to join me in this cause. It is for that reason that I have taken on the chairmanship of the Economic Development Network at YPO, and created the HiMaT Grassroots Development Foundation, which has begun to implement a unique community and business development program in the poorest and most remote region of Pakistani Kashmir.

I recently separated from my Danish wife of 27 years - since then I have fallen in love and now share my life with a magical lady who shares my passion in sustainable community development and peace making. I have four children between 13 and 23 years old - her three children are between 14 and 25. In my wilder days, I crossed the Aegean Sea in a rubber dinghy, kayaked down the Yukon, and climbed Mt. McKinley in Alaska. Now I enjoy snow-boarding, tennis and volleyball with my kids and I have just learnt how to kite-surf.

I am working on creating a "Village Partner Alliance" of NGOs believing in training and supporting rural communities in the developing world to take the future into their own hands. If organizations like Jeff Sachs's Millennium Villages, the Aga Khan Foundation, Percy Barnevik's Hand-in-Hand, Paul Farmer's Partners-in-Health unite their efforts, and mobilze the support of businessmen like George Soros and Jeff Skoll, retired politicians like Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela, celebrities like Angela Jolie and Bono, and web portals like Nabuur, Christmas Futures, Social Edge, TED and Razoo anything is possible....
