11/11/07 Why I did it: So that local people may hear and understand from you why you've come into their society and culture, and the fact you truly appreciate it.

11/11/07 Why I did it: We are human. Human languages are our primary way to interact with and relate to one another. In another society speaking a local language or languages dramatically increases the possibility you'll get to eat at least once a day. ;)
