This site has some massive potential - and I can't wait to see how far it can take things.

My passion is people. I spent the summer in Thailand a couple of years ago doing medical work (I was a field medic in the US Army right after high school) - and it COMPLETLEY changed my life. To see the true depth of need that exists - it wasn't something I could come back from unchanged. I am confounded at the "need" we have here in the States for things...and lifestyles. It saddened my heart to come back to the day-to-day here.

I have this dream of starting a non-profit to take medical care and build medical clinics and such in areas that so greatly need them. The name is Eleos (ancient Greek for "mercy"). If anyone would like to talk about it - or has any ideas - or can be a possible help in any way towards getting this thing going, please, let me know. Let's change the world - together.

Mark---I'm super pumped you've been re-using your water bottle, although...and i hate to break it to you after such a valiant 3 month stint...BUT, you may be risking things in the health department. Here goes: there have been a lot of recent studies done of reuse of plastic water bottles and they've found that the sun breaks down the plastic and causes dangerous toxins to be released into the water, as well as the growth of bacteria over a period of days can cause illness. Soo, I do love the water bottle reuse idea...but maybe you could get a sweet Nalgene? sorry to rain on any parades!!! What do you think?

07/23/07 Why I did it: I pretty much don't drink coffee much at all anymore - but! - I have been using the same Fiji water bottle for water everyday for like - oh - 3 months? Does that count? :)
