I currently live in Santa Cruz, CA. I supervise adoptions at the Santa Cruz SPCA, where we place up to 120 animals each month into loving, permanent homes. I specialize in abused and neglected animals and often help to rehabilitate extreme abuse cases through foster care and behavioral training. When I'm not working directly with the animals, I am campaigning and lobbying for animal welfare legislation in Sacramento. Obviously my work centers on animals, but in my personal life I also dedicate as much time as I can spare towards human rights and global issues.

Right now I spend most of my time lobbying for the Healthy Pets Act AB 1634, a statewide assembly bill that would require most dogs and cats to be spayed and neutered. In California alone we kill over a half million dogs and cats each year at the cost of a quarter billion dollars. This bill will save millions of animals' lives and billions of CA taxpayer dollars. I am also the regional coordinator for the County of Santa Cruz for the CA Humane Campaign, a ballot initiative that would outlaw 3 of the most cruel form of confinement for farmed animals; veal crates, gestation crates and battery cages.

Apart from animal issues, I would love to help with the Darfur crisis beyond what I normally do, which is donating money when I can. I also strongly support the work of UNICEF.

Reading, art history (my minor in college and one of my passions), good food, the outdoors, traveling, being adventurous, laughing with friends. I'm also a bit of a workaholic, so anything that pries me away from work is good.
