Why I Joined: I'm a Peace Corps volunteer on the Romanian Gender and Development committee. Ending domestic voilence is an important goal in every country and right now it is important to my work. I want to support GAD and this group in as many ways as I can.

07/06/08 Why I did it: To make her healthier and happier and because if she had kittens I would have to ensure happy loving homes for all of them - I couldn't bear drowning them which is the common practice where I'm living. Therefore I also did it to help educate my neighbors.

06/05/08 Why I did it: I did it because it was so easy and it means so much to people. Also it's not a handout its a loan so it actually doesn't cost me anything - except to be willing to take a risk with $25. I figure that's less than a credit card late fee.

Why I Joined: I'm reading this book that states if you want to change a culture, to empower women, to improve basic hygiene and health care and fight infant mortality the answer is to educate girls - and I believe that.
