Another typical one room house on Pine Ridge in the early winter. It's freezing cold and as you can see these tiny clapboard homes have little in the way of windows or door protection. This one has a wood burning stove - the only source of wood heat and for cooking. No electricity runs to this home and there is no plumbing. This is a third world in South Dakota. Yet this house is better than many of the dilapedated mobile trailers far too many crowd into with floors falling in, no working plumbing and now electricity.
