A wood project by the Viet Nam Vets of the Cheyenne River and Pine Ridge Reservations in South Dakota, helps to cut and deliver fire wood to families who have outside sponsors to buy them firewood -- many families only source of heat on the rez is from firewood since they can't afford propane and electricity just isn't available in many places. If it wasn't for sponsorship from outside help (ONE Spirit and other organizations) these people might not have ANY heat in the sub-freezing winters. Many people, mostly elders, have lost fingers and toes to frostbite in the winters due to lack of heat in their homes. Some have even died of hypothermia.
